David M. Caton

David M. Caton graduated from Fauquier High School in Warrenton, Virginia. Afterwards, Mr. Caton enlisted in the United States Navy. During his career with the United States Navy, he was trained as a flight engineer and completed numerous aviation airframe, power plant and electrical courses with the U.S. Navy and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In 1982, Mr. Caton received his Associate in Science degree from Mohegans Community College, CT. In 1996, he graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's of Arts in History. Mr. Caton continued his education at the University of Florida College of Law, graduating with his Juris Doctor. While in law school Mr. Caton received the Fall 1999 Trial Practice book award for trial litigation.

Mr. Caton retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He is a Vietnam and Desert Storm veteran. As part of his military flying career, he traveled to or lived in over fifty different foreign countries. Mr. Caton received over twenty-two years of aviation and aviation maintenance experience while in the United States Navy as an instructor flight engineer, aviation maintenance technician, and aviation maintenance administrator. In 1983 Mr. Caton was selected to serve in the U.S. Military Personal Exchange Program with the West Germany Navy in Nordholz, Germany as a flight engineer flying in the German Navy’s “Airlantic” patrol aircraft. During his military flying career he accumulated over 14,000 flight hours in the U.S. Navy's P-3 Orion, C-1A (Trader) and German Airlantic Patrol Aircraft.

Mr. Caton has been a member of the Florida Bar since September 2000 and is currently practicing in the area of aviation, insurance defense, automobile negligence, premise liability, products liability, and trial practice. He is admitted to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, and all state courts within the State of Florida. Mr. Caton is a member of the Florida Bar, Orange County Bar Association, Florida Defense Lawyers Association, American Bar Association (Air and Space Division), and Aviation Insurance Association.

He and his wife, Dottie, reside in Orlando, Florida. In addition to practicing law, Mr. Caton enjoys golf, deep-sea fishing, and foreign travel.
