Donald L. O'Dell graduated from high school in Fort Scott, Kansas. Mr. O'Dell served in the United States Marine Corps and completed two tours of Vietnam. After leaving the Marine Corps in 1968, Mr. O'Dell began attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City, graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. In1976, Mr. O'Dell received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Mr. O'Dell has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1978. During that time, he has defended a wide variety of businesses and corporations in cases involving professional, commercial and insurance defense issues. Mr. O'Dell has also represented numerous insurance carriers in matters involving coverage issues of bad faith litigation. In 1992, Mr. O'Dell co-authored Insurance Litigation in Florida.
Mr. O'Dell has defended trucking companies, premises liability matters and has handled toxic tort and chemical contamination claims. He is experienced in the handling of governmental, municipal, and law enforcement matters and has defended many cities and police departments throughout Florida. During the last 15 years, his practice has become concentrated in the area of professional liability claims wherein he has defended lawyers, nurses, and accountants, as well as the handling of errors and omissions claims, where he has defended insurance agents, real estate agents, and property appraisers.
Mr. O'Dell is also an experienced appellate lawyer having presented appeals in state and federal appellate courts. Mr. O'Dell is admitted to the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court of the Middle District of Florida, all state and appellate courts within the State of Florida. Martindale-Hubbell has rated Mr. Odell "AV", its highest designation. Mr. Odell is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Florida Bar.
Mr. O'Dell and his wife, Stephanie, have three children, two sons and a daughter, and reside in Heathrow, Florida. In addition to the practice of law, Mr. O'Dell enjoys boating, sports, and reading.
